Nitrous Sedation ‘Laughing Gas’

Nitrous sedation, often called “laughing gas,” is a safe and gentle way to help patients feel calm and relaxed during dental treatment. It is breathed in through a small mask placed over the nose and works quickly to reduce anxiety and discomfort while keeping the patient awake and responsive. One of the benefits of nitrous sedation is that its effects wear off within minutes after the mask is removed, allowing patients to return to normal activities soon after their visit. Nitrous sedation is commonly used for both children and adults and helps make dental appointments more comfortable and stress-free.

Oral Sedation

Oral sedation at the dentist is a simple and effective option used to help patients feel relaxed and at ease during dental procedures. It involves taking a prescribed medication before the appointment, which helps reduce anxiety and creates a calm, ‘floating’ feeling while the patient remains conscious. Many patients remember little of the procedure and feel less stress overall. Because the effects can last for several hours, a responsible support person is required to accompany you to the appointment and drive you home afterward. Oral sedation is generally not recommended for children and is best suited for adult patients who need extra help feeling comfortable during dental treatment.
